Illustration Profile

Since I was old enough to hold a crayon, I've had a passion for art. I've been drawing and painting for as long as I remember. I studied illustration at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and the Illustration Academy. At VCU, I was a member of the exclusive Honors studio for two semesters.

I've mastered a variety of illustrative techniques in both traditional media and digital. I created commercial illustrations for web and print applications using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. My commercial illustrations have included product diagrams, maps and cartoons.

In traditional media, I've used photorealistic and stylized techniques to create technical, medical and fine art pieces. I employ a variety of painting techniques and mediums, such as oils, acrylics, watercolors, and inks. For drawing I use pen, pencil, charcoal, and pastels. I've explored many mixed media processes and printmaking methods.

My personal style involves the use of acrylic ink washes with calligraphy pens. I like the use of line and semi-realistic, semi-stylized subject matter. My use of line creates organic shapes and gradations overlaid with bright color washes for added depth.
